How to send your handwritten signature online
You may find it easier to apply on a phone or tablet with a camera.
1. Sign your name in black ink on plain white paper
The paper must have no lines, squares, patterns, or creases.
Sign your name as you would normally. Make sure your whole signature is on the paper.
Do not sign your name using a stylus or a finger on a screen.
2. Take a digital photo or scan of your whole signature
For a photo, use:
- a phone or digital camera to take a photo of your whole signature, with nothing cut off
- a well–lit area, so that there’s no shadows in the photo
The photo must only show your signature. Make sure it does not include anything like your bed or desk.
For a scan, use:
- a scanner to scan your signature onto a computer or laptop
The scan must not have any smudges, shadows or marks.
3. Check the photo or scan of your signature
Your signature must be:
- in black ink
- on plain white paper
- your normal signature
- your whole signature and nothing else
- without shadows, smudges or marks
4. Make sure you can easily find your signature on this device
5. Upload your signature to this service
6. Check your uploaded signature looks OK
Your signature must be:
- clear and in focus
- the right way up
7. Send your signature
If you’re using a shared device, remember to delete your signature after you’ve sent it.
